Hermoso’s hat-trick gives Barcelona significant advantage over Fortuna Hjørring. The Catalan side is already halfway through the next phase with a 4-0 win.
Fortuna is a standard contender in Women’s Champions League knockout stages but their only win came at their eighth attempt, beating Brescia in 2016/17. They didn’t stand a chance against Barcelona who have won their last ten matches in the round of 16 over the last five seasons, conceding only once.

Jennifer Hermoso cleared all the doubts with two early goals in the 12th and 18th minute. She completed her hat-trick after the break. Alexia Putellas just added the 4th goal at the end. Blaugrana completely demolished Fortuna who did not have a single shot on target while Barcelona had 15 and also hit the woodwork twice.
Next Wednesday, when the return leg will be played in Denmark, Barça should not have any problems confirming their spot in the quarter-finals with their comfortable 4-0 lead.

“We can be satisfied with a lot of things. We created some opportunities and we are now standing here and are a bit dissatisfied with the fact that we didn’t score. I think that is fantastic.” – Niclas Hougaard, Fortuna head coach
