In the second night of Women’s Champions League quarter-finals, Wolfsburg defended their advantage from the first leg and secured the spot in the semi final with 1-1 draw against PSG.
In the other match, Chelsea were 15 minutes away from securing their spot among last 4 in the regular time, when Vanessa Gilles tied the duel in the 77th minute. In the extra time, Sara Dabritz in the 110th minute and it seemed Lyon will continue their European journey. But after VAR review in the 124th minute, Chelsea were awarded the penalty and Maren Mjelde sent the game into penalties. Dubious decision.
After first five successful penalties Ann Kathrin Berger saved shot from Wendie Renard and Christiane Endler denied Lauren James. After Sara Dabritz successful conversion, Jess Carter stepped up for Chelsea and beat Endler. Lindsey Horan took the responsibilty as the last penalty taker but Berger read her idea and saved her shot and sent Chelsea through to the semi-finals.
