2nd leg on 30th of March

One of the most exciting matchups in the Women’s Champions League was played in Allianz Arena in front of 13,000 spectators. Already in the 4th minute, Lina Magull sent a cross to the penalty box from a free-kick. Barbora Votikova failed to catch the ball but after some pinball in the area, the Paris’ defence managed to clear the ball from the danger zone. In the 13th minute, Klara Bühl had a shot toward the goal from 8 meters, but Amanda Ilestedt blocked the shot before Votikova. In the 19th minute, PSG had the first real chance, which they managed to convert immediately. After a corner kick, Kadidiatou Diani first hit the post, but the ball bounced back and after some confusion Marie-Antoniette Katoto managed to break the deadlock and gave the lead to the Parisians despite Bayern being the better team for the most part of the first half. In the 41st minute, Sara Däbritz had to be substituted due to injury.

In the second half, Bayern continued with pressure, while PSG were waiting for counter-attacks. After 66 minutes, PSG’s defence forgot on Sydney Lohmann, who was completely alone in the area, but the German attacker hit the ball poorly and sent it just by the post. But just a minute later, Bühl did much better, but this time Votikova kept the guests in the lead with a fantastic save. Despite Bayern getting more and more dangerous, it was Parisians who scored again. In a very similar fashion as the first goal, Katoto again headed the cross from the corner kick in. Bavarians came very close to get one back in the 79th minute. After a cross from Bühl, Sydney Lohmann headed the ball into the post. In the 83rd minute, Elisa de Almeida tripped Jovana Damnjanović just at the edge of the box. Klara Bühl sent the free-kick down the middle but with too much power for Votikova, who could just deflect the ball into the net. Despite Bayern efforts in the last ten minutes, PSG managed to take home a one-goal advantage for the second leg.

As expected for the Women’s Champions League quarter-finals, we saw an entertaining game, where Bayern was a slightly better team but failed to score. On the other side, efficient Parisians managed to get a slight advantage with two goals from corners.
