Olympique Lyon and Everton FC agreed on a transfer for Damaris Egurrola. A Spanish midfielder signs for a period of 3 years and a half, until June 30, 2024. Both sides already confirmed 6-figure switch.
Born in 1999, Damaris Egurrola started her football career in Athletic Bilbao. She debuted in the senior team at the age of 16 and won Spanish title in 2016. She stayed in Basque country for 5 seasons, played 113 matches and scored 5 goals. She signed with Everton in September but played just 6 matches in Women’s Super League.

Everton Women Sporting and Commercial Director, Sarvar Ismailov, conceded the Club could not deny Egurrola the opportunity to sign for the continent’s pre-eminent team. “It is important we make it clear that the only reason we are letting Damaris go is because we want her to fulfil her dream. We had to look at the situation from a player’s perspective: when Lyon call you, you don’t turn it down,” Ismailov told for Everton FC website.

At 21 years old, the defensive midfielder already has 1 selection with the Spanish national team, which she represented in the youth categories. Finalist of the U20 World Cup in 2018, she also won the U19 Euro a year earlier, scoring one of the three goals of Spain in the final won against the French team (3-2).
Egurrola arrival in second for the best Europe’s team in the last few years, after the signing Catarina Macario. French champions will be again among the contenders for all possible titles.
