“when Lyon call you, you don’t turn it down”

– Sarvar Ismailov

Everton Women Sporting and Commercial Director, Sarvar Ismailov, conceded the Club could not deny Egurrola the opportunity to sign for the continent’s pre-eminent team. “It is important we make it clear that the only reason we are letting Damaris go is because we want her to fulfil her dream. We had to look at the situation from a player’s perspective: when Lyon call you, you don’t turn it down,” Ismailov told for Everton FC website.

At 21 years old, the defensive midfielder already has 1 selection with the Spanish national team, which she represented in the youth categories. Finalist of the U20 World Cup in 2018, she also won the U19 Euro a year earlier, scoring one of the three goals of Spain in the final won against the French team (3-2).
