Lyon dismiss Jean-Luc Vasseur after the elimination of the Women’s Champions League in the quarter-finals. Sonia Bompastor will replace him as head coach until June 2023.
Lyon failed to qualify for the Women’s Champions League semi-final against PSG, after 5 consecutive titles in the competition. Vasseur dismissal came after internal discussion after elimination, where other reasons, like absences of Griedge Mbock and Ada Hegerberg, long-term injuries to COVID-19, also popped up. The 52-year-old coach joined Lyon in 2019, and brought the 5th consecutive Champions League title, French Championship and a French Cup.
