Annalena Riek returns to SGS Essen in the summer

Annalena Riek returns to SGS Essen in the summer, where she already played in 2018/19 season.

The 23-year-old left Essen in 2019 to join FSV Gütersloh, where she spent the last three years. In total, she scored 32 goals in 57 games for Gütersloh in the 2. Frauen Bundesliga. The German forward will make a switch back to Bundesliga in the summer to combine her studies with football.

“I’m ready to take the next step, and I’m really looking forward to competing with the best players in Germany in the highest German league. Since September 2021, I have been studying economics at the University of Applied Sciences in Gelsenkirchen and I live in Herten. By switching to SGS, I have the opportunity to optimally combine my studies and my private life with football,” said Riek.
