Daniel Weber appointed new Köln coach

Daniel Weber appointed new Köln coach as a longer term solution after Sascha Glass sacking back in March.

The 50-year-old doesn’t have experience in women’s football. He led VfR Garching in the lower German leagues. Most recently, he was part of FC Bayern coaching staff in Bavarians academy. Köln finished last season of Frauen Bundesliga on the 9th place.

“The anticipation is incredibly great. It is something very special for me to take over the coaching of the FC women. For me, a circle has come full circle, so to speak. I was born in this region, played for FC in my youth and am now returning as coach. It was noticeable in the talks with the FC officials what potential there is here in FC women’s football and I’m really keen to do my bit to exploit it further,” said Weber.
