FC Köln sack coach Sascha Glass

FC Köln sack coach Sascha Glass after failing to win the last-placed Frauen Bundesliga team, Turbine Potsdam.

The 50-year-old coach took over Köln in 2020, while they were still in 2. Bundesliga. In the 2020/21 Köln was promoted to Frauen Bundesliga for the first time in club’s history. They finished the last season on the 8th place. In the current season, Köln are currently sitting on the penultimate place with 12 points but just one point behind 8th place Werder Bremen, which they will face tomorrow in what could be one of the crucial matches in relegation battle.

“Sascha Glass deserves great thanks for his important contribution to the development of our 1st women’s team in the past years as well as respect for his professional handling of the release that has taken place,” said managing director Christian Keller. Glass’ successor is not known yet.
