“I am honored and very happy to play for FC Bayern Munich in the future. It has always been my dream to play soccer professionally and at such a high level. The players here are among the best in the world and I am very excited to open this new chapter in my life and become part of the Bayern family,” Vilhjálmsdóttir said of her signing.

The Icelander was pleased about FCB’s interest: “When a team as strong as the FCB women wants to sign you, you can’t say no at all. I was looking for a new challenge for myself and I am happy to have found it in Munich,” said the young talent. Vilhjálmsdóttir qualified with her national team in 2020 for the European Championship in England in 2022 and attracted international attention during her international appearances.

The 19-year-old from near Reykjavík is a second Bayern addition during winter transfer windows. Ivana Rudelić return to Munich was announced on Tuesday.
