Lena Triendl joins Werder Bremen from SC Sand for the upcoming season.
The 22-year-old played in her native Austria for Wacker Innsbruck before making a move across the border and joining SC Sand last summer. The Austrian midfielder played 23 matches for SC Sand in the recently-finished season. Willstatt based club finished on the 11th place in Frauen Bundesliga, thus got relegated to the second tier of the German women’s football. That is first new arrival for Werder, after club previously extended contracts of Christin Meyer, Nina Lührssen, Margarita Gidion and Anneke Borbe have also renewed their contracts recently.
“The talks with coach Thomas Horsch and department head Birte Brüggemann were very good. That and the professional conditions as well as the possibility to continue playing in the Bundesliga convinced me of Werder. I want to develop personally here and help the team to establish itself in the Bundesliga with my performances,” added Triendl.
