Leonie Maier joins Hoffenheim in the summer following her contract expiration with Everton. She penned a deal until June 2025.
The 30-year-old has over 150 appearances in Frauen Bundesliga from the time, when she played for SC Bad Neuenahr and FC Bayern München. In 2019, the German full-back moved to England, where she joined Arsenal. After two years with the Gunners, she signed for Everton in 2021. Maier, who also has 79 caps for the national team, was part of die Elf that won EURO in 2013 and Olympic gold medal in Rio 2016.
After four years in England where I was able to gain many great experiences, it is now time for me to return to Germany and the Bundesliga and thus also to be closer to my home again,” Maier said.
