Marina Hegering moves to Wolfsburg from FC Bayern München after the season. She signed a four-year contract.
The 31-year-old is the newest Wolfsburg reinforcement for the next season. After Jule Brand and Merle Frohms, Hegering will join the club from rival Bayern. The German defender played for Duisburg, Bayer Leverkusen and SGS Essen before moving to Bavaria in 2020. An experienced defender also has 13 caps for the German national team.
“I’m really looking forward to taking the next step of my career next summer with VfL Wolfsburg and being able to continue playing European football at the highest level. I’m particularly looking forward to the great opportunity of working as a coach with VfL Wolfsburg once I hang up my boots. It’s not an automatic step for retiring players and is testament to how much faith the VfL management have in me,” said Hegering.
