Merle Frohms returns to Wolfsburg at the end of the season from Eintracht Frankfurt. She signed a contract until June 2025.
After Wolfsburg yesterday announced the arrival of Jule Brand after the season, today also Merle Frohms was announced as a new number one between the post. The 27-year-old will return to the club, where she debuted on a senior level. Frohms spent eleven years in Wolfsburg, most of the time as a substitute goalkeeper to current Wolfsburg no.1, Almuth Schuth. Schuth informed the club she will not extend her contract, thus the Wolves found her replacement in Frohms who played in 24 matches during her first spell with the club. After leaving Wolfsburg, she played in Freiburg and Eintracht Frankfurt.
“I am very pleased to be able to wear the VfL Wolfsburg jersey again from the summer onwards. I played for VfL for seven years and the club is very close to my heart. The fact that I took a different path in 2018 was definitely the right step. My role will now be different, I have the clear goal of returning as number one,” said Frohms.
