Robert de Pauw appointed new Bayer Leverkusen coach, while Achim Feifel, who was in charge since 2019, moves to the sporting director position.
The 57-year-old has led the Werkself to the 7th position finish in the last season of Frauen Bundesliga. In the DFB pokal, Leverkusen just failed short of a place in the big final after semi-final defeat on penalties. In order to professionalize the structure, the club decided to introduce the sporting director position, which will focus on squad planning and development.
Feifel’s replacement on the bench is 40-year-old Robert de Pauw, who has most recently worked in Twente. In the last season, he led the Dutch team to Eredivisie title. De Pauw also has experience from the Dutch national teams in youth categories. He penned a two-year deal, until June 2024.
“It is a very appealing task. I am very happy about the trust placed in me and the chance to work at a top club with a young, ambitious team. It’s a challenge that I’m very motivated to take on,” said de Pauw.
