Sarah Puntigam joins FC Köln from Montpellier on a two-year deal, until June 2024.
The 29-year-old grew up in Austria but moved to Bayern München at 17, where she played for the second team. In 2010, the Austrian midfielder debuted for the first team in Frauen Bundesliga. Due to lack of playing time, she left München for SC Kriens in Switzerland. After one season, Puntigam returned to Bundesliga and signed with Freiburg. In total, she has 96 matches in Frauen Bundesliga on her tally. In 2018, she moved to D1 Arkema League, where the Austrian international with the most caps (118) for her country, plays for Montpellier. That is another arrival for Koln, after Andrea Gavric and Lotte Cordes.
“I immediately had a very good impression of 1. FC Köln and its vision for the future of women’s soccer. FC, with its values such as diversity and acceptance, is a club where I will feel very comfortable. I’m also looking forward to playing in the Bundesliga again,” added Puntigam.
