Sophie Weidauer joins Werder Bremen

Sophie Weidauer joins Werder Bremen from a fellow German side, Turbine Potsdam.

The 21-year-old has been with Turbine her whole career. Coming from the youth teams, she debuted in Frauen Bundesliga in 2019. The German striker made a total of 81 appearances in the German top tier, which came to an end after Turbine relegation in the last season. In order to continue playing football at the highest level, Weidauer opted to change clubs for the first time in her career.

“My first impression of Werder was that it will be a place where I will feel comfortable right from the start. This feel-good factor also had the highest priority in my decision, as it allows me to deliver my best performance. My own ambition is to play in the Bundesliga. Therefore, I am very happy that I will be playing for SVW,” said Weidauer, who joins Amira Dahl and Juliane Wirtz as the latest newcomer.
