Stephan Lerch is leaving Wolfsburg at the end of the season and will take over Hoffenheim’s U-17 men’s team.
The 36-year-old, who has been in the club since 2013 and worked his way all the way to the head coach, decided not to extend the contract with Wolfsburg. Already in August 2020, he announced that he wants to take new challenges. Lerch will start his career in men’s football in Hoffenheim’s U-17 team after 8 very successful years with Wolfsburg.
During his time with the Wolves, he won 4 consecutive Bundesliga – DFB pokal doubles and played in the Champions League final in 2019/20. In the current edition of the most prestigious club competition, Wolfsburg was knocked out in the quarter-final by Chelsea. But before leaving, he can still win his 5th Bundesliga title. Currently, his team is sitting on a 2nd place, 2 points behind Bayern München.
