Turid Knaak will hang up her boots, the Wolfsburg player announced today.
The 31-year-old is one of the most experienced players in Frauen Bundesliga with 253 appearances. She joined Wolfsburg before the season from Atletico Madrid. Previously, the German striker also played for Duisburg, Bayer Leverkusen, Arsenal and SGS Essen. Knaak also played 16 matches for the German national team, scoring two goals.
“After 15 years of professional football, it’s my wish to explore new avenues professionally. I didn’t take this decision lightly, as football has been my biggest passion for as long as I can remember, and always will be. Now I want to bring an excellent season with VfL to a successful conclusion and win the two titles that we still can,” said Knaak.
