Babett Peter retires at the end of the season, Real Madrid player announced today.
The 33-year-old started her career in Germany with Lokomotive Leipzig. Soon, she moved to Turbine Potsdam, for whom she played over 138 matches, won Frauen Bundesliga five times and also stepped on the Women’s Champions League throne. After a brief spell with Frankfurt, the German defender moved to Wolfsburg, where she became German champion three more times. In 2019, Peter moved to Spain, signing for CD Tacon, which renamed to Real Madrid in 2020 and for whom she made over 50 appearances. For the German national team, she collected over 100 caps, became World Champions in 2007 and won EURO 2009 and Olympics gold medal in 2016.
“An unforgettable journey comes to an end. In summer, after almost two decades, I am turning my back on active sports and starting a new chapter in my life,” wrote Peter on Twitter.
