Carlos Santiso replaces Miguel Ángel Quejigo as Rayo’s coach

Carlos Santiso replaces Miguel Ángel Quejigo as Rayo’s coach, the club announced today. Santiso returns to the club seven months after his departure.

Miguel Ángel Quejigo took over Rayo back in June. But Rayo Vallecano did poor under his leadership. 17 matches, 2 wins, 2 draws and 13 losses put Vallecas at the bottom of Liga Iberdrola. To add to that, the relationship between players and the club is tense. That also led to captain replacement, since the coach suspended captains Pilar García and Paula Andújar for the cup game.

It is not an easy task ahead of Santiso, who previously coached Rayo for five years. His main challenge will be to avoid relegation and stabilize the relationships among both sides.

Quejigo is third dismissed coach in the current season of Liga Iberdrola, after David Aznar and Victor Miguel Fernandez.
