Head coach Francis Díaz leaves Granadilla bench, the club announced today. His assistant, José Herrera, will become a head coach for the next season.
The 50-year-old Diaz took over the Tenerife club in January 2020. He was in charge of 70 games, winning 36 of them. Under his guidance, Granadilla finished 5th in the recently finished season after even occupying the second place for some time. The Spanish coach also took the team to the semi-finals of Copa de la Reina, where they were knocked out by Sporting Huelva.
“I only have words of thanks to the board, employees, coaching staff, players and fans. Thank you for supporting me in this beautiful stage and for allowing me to grow as a coach and as a person,” said Diaz, whose successor is not known yet.
