Irene Guerrero moves to Atlético Madrid from their league rivals, Levante UD. She penned a three-year deal with Rojablancas.
The 25-year-old started her professional career in her native Seville with Real Betis. After 5 years and over 100 matches, the Spanish defender moved to Levante in 2020, also participating in the Women’s Champions League with Granotas. 12-times Spanish international is also part of the Spanish squad for Women’s EURO 2022. Atletico’s team is undergoing quite a few changes in this summer, following the departure of 6 important players.
“It is a great pride and an even greater responsibility for the club it represents, but when a club like Atlético de Madrid knocks on your door there are times when decisions are easier to make. After the sporting project they have shown me, I could only say yes to Atlético and from today I am looking forward to being part of this family,” added Guerrero.
