Coach Jonatan Giráldez renews with Barcelona and will lead the Women’s Champions League runners-up for two more years, until June 2024.
The 30-year-old coach took charge in Barcelona after Lluis Cortes left the club last summer. Cortes’ former assistant won all 30 games in Liga Iberdrola, secured the win in Copa de la Reina and took the team in the Women’s Champions League final in his first year. In 47 matches as Blaugrana’s head coach, Giráldez failed to win only twice, one of those in the UWCL final against Lyon.
“Today is a very happy day, especially for all the people present here, those who will be here next season and who are important, and they deserve it. Every day I learn a lot. I have the feeling that I am growing a lot on a personal level. We hope to come back with a desire for more, I think this team still has room for improvement,” said Giráldez.
