Marta Cardona joins Atlético Madrid

Marta Cardona joins Atlético Madrid from their city rivals, Real Madrid. She signed a contract until the end of the season.

The 27-year-old played for Zaragoza at the beginning of her senior career. After seven years, the Spanish winger joined Levante and later, Real Sociedad. In 2020, Cardona signed for Las Blancas. The Spanish international played a total of 43 matches for Real Madrid. In Atlético, she joins Andrea Medina, Eva Navarro, Ainhoa Moraza, Cinta Rodriguez, Andrea Staškova, Xenia Perez, Merle Barth and Irene Guerrero as the newest summer arrival.

“I feel very happy and very much looking forward to starting. It’s a club that is a pioneer in women’s football and I’m really looking forward to starting to work with the staff, with the players and for everything to begin,” added Cardona.
