Merle Barth joins Atlético Madrid

Merle Barth joins Atlético Madrid from Turbine Potsdam. She signed a two-year contract with Rojablancas.

The 28-year-old spent 10 years with Bayer Leverkusen before moving to Turbine Potsdam in 2020. In total, the German centre-back played over 200 matches in Frauen Bundesliga.  In the last season, she made 21 appearances in the German top flight, missing just one game. Atlético Madrid will be the first experience abroad for Barth, who is second summer arrival for Rojablancas, following Irene Guerrero.

“It is a great honour to join such a prestigious club as Atlético de Madrid and I am very happy and excited to get started. I can’t wait to meet all the ‘rojiblancos’ and represent the incredible Club Atlético de Madrid,” Barth added.
