Manolo Cano replaces Óscar Fernández as Atletico coach

Manolo Cano replaces Óscar Fernández as Atletico coach after he was sacked after a year and a half.

The 35-year-old Fernández took over Atletico last summer and led the team to the 4th place finish in the last season of Liga F. Rojablancas have lost three times in the current season and are sitting on the fifth place after yesterday’s defeat against city rivals, Real Madrid. The club announced that “the current situation, in which the team is outside the places that give access to the Women’s Champions League, has led to the dismissal of the coach from La Mancha.”

Club announced Manolo Cano will take over the team until the end of the season. The 47-year-old already worked with the club in the past as a U19 coach. This will be his first experience in Liga F. ”

I am very excited and happy. There were incredible years. It is always said that when you are happy you always want to come back and today I can make it happen. I am very happy and excited about this new stage and I hope it will be just as productive,” said Cano.
