Thembi Kgatlana transfers to Atlético Madrid from a Spanish side, SD Eibar. She signed a contract until June 2024.
The 25-year-old South African was named Best African footballer in 2018. In 2018, she went to the United States to join the Houston Dash, where she stayed for one season. Later she moved to Beijing BG Phoenix and then to Europe where she played for Benfica. In 2020, she transferred to Liga Iberdrola to SD Eibar. South African international played in 27 games and scored 10 goals in the last season.
“I’m very happy to be joining Atlético de Madrid. As a footballer, you always dream of playing for the best clubs. My first goal is to be a team player and work hard for the team. I am very happy to join soon, and I can’t wait to meet all my teammates,” Kgatlana said.
