Virginia Torrecilla pens a new deal with Atletico Madrid and will stay in the Spanish capital for another year after successfully beating cancer.
The 26-year-old joined Rojoblancas in 2019 from Montpellier. In May 2020, the Spanish international announced that she had been diagnosed with a brain tumor. After a successful surgery, she returned to training in March 2021 and will hopefully be ready by the start of the next season.
“For me, it’s a privilege to stay here, and I’m very happy about it. For me, Atlético de Madrid is my home and I feel very good here. I want to thank everyone for the support you have given me. I hope I can retire at Atlético de Madrid. I’m really looking forward to getting back on the pitch, sharing the dressing room with my teammates and wearing these colours again”, said Torrecilla.
