Paula Nicart retires from professional football at the end of the season due to knee problems.
The 27-year-old defender, who currently plays for Sevilla, made 14 appearances since her arrival to Andalusia last summer. Previously, she also played for Valencia, Espanyol and Saint-Gabriel and has over 100 matches in Liga Iberdrola under her belt. But after recurring knee problems, the 3-time Spanish international decided to hang up her boots after the season.
“The time has come to face the reality of my knee, the time has come to give up the only thing I know as a lifestyle. It has been a difficult few months of much reflection and after too much thinking and too many doubts, I have come to the conclusion that the most sensible, although painful, is to retire at the end of this season,” said Nicart.
