AC Milan fightback for the Coppa Italia final with two late goals from Natasha Dowie that were enough to overturn the result from the first leg and send AC Milan to the Coppa Italia final.
The first leg was played more than a month ago. Inter surprisingly achieved their first ever win over their city rivals and had a nice opportunity to play in the Coppa Italia final. Rossonere knew that they need to score, so they started strong from the first minute. Already in the 8th minute, Vero Boquete ran unchecked into the box and finished into the corner. Just 6 minutes later, she doubled the lead with her left foot after a pass from Dowie. Milan was far more active and dangerous. Martina Brustia thought she got a goal back, but it was ruled out for offside.

The second half continued with Milan’s ruling the field. But in the 61st minute, Inter got their very needed away goal. Gloria Marinelli’s flick surprised Laura Agard and beat Maria Korenčiová from a tight angle. The teams were tied on aggregate, and we would have seen the extra time. But Natasha Dowie took control and first bundled Linda Cimini’s cross over the line in the 79th minute. She scored a brace in the 86th minute with a header. Valentina Giacinti had a chance to seal the tie but wasted the chance in front of Astrid Gilardi. Nevertheless, the tie seemed decided but in the 91st minute, Neroazzure got a goal back via Caroline Møller’s precise left-footed finish. But Inter ran out of time and came a goal short of their Coppa Italia final dream. Milan advanced with an aggregate score 5-4.
