In Italy, the Supercup final 4 tournament was played over this weekend. Juventus and Milan played the final for the first trophy of the year. After Rossonere were in front of the break, we saw Juventus comeback for the Supercup win in the second half.
After Juventus got the first chance of the match, we saw a pretty even first half, until Christy Grimshaw headed the cross from the corner in, in the extra time of the first half. Soon after the break, Bianconere got the equalizer after Milan’s captain Bergamaschi scored an own goal after a cross from Girelli. Immediately after, she had a great opportunity to put them back in front but hit the post from a promising position. In the 54th minute, Laia Codina got her 2nd yellow card and Rossonere had to play with 10 for the remaining of the game. While everybody was already getting ready for extra-time, Girelli scored the winner after Lisa Boattin cross from the corner.
That is the 3rd consecutive Super Cup win for Juventus and first trophy in Italy for Bianconere’s coach, Joe Montemurro, since take over in the summer.
