Aissatou Tounkara joins Manchester United

Aissatou Tounkara joins Manchester United from a Spanish side, Atlético Madrid. She penned a two-year deal, until June 2024.

The 27-year-old started her senior career with Paris FC, where she spent seven years. In 2018, the French defender swapped France for Spain and signed for Atlético Madrid. For Rojablancas, Tounkara played 83 matches, 17 in the last season. She is also a regular in the French national team, with 35 caps on her tally so far. Nikita Parris, Lucia Garcia, Maya Le Tissier, Grace Clinton, Rachel Williams and Adriana Leon have already joined the Red Devils recently.

“I am very happy and honored to join such a prestigious team as Manchester United. I can’t wait to start this new challenge and join my team-mates,” said Tounkara.
