Brian Sørensen to take over Everton

Brian Sørensen to take over Everton in the summer, the club announced today. He signed a two-year contract.

The 41-year-old coach will succeed Jean-Luc Vasseur, who was sacked back in February after lack of results. Since then, Chris Roberts and Claire Ditchburn are in charge on an interim basis. Sørensen is currently head coach of Fortuna Hjorring. Previously, he also worked FC Nordsjælland and IK Skovbakken. During his two spells with Fortuna, he won two league titles, a domestic cup and played in the knockout stages of the Champions League. Everton will be the first experience abroad for the Dannish coach, who will have to improve the results in the next season. The Toffees are currently on the 10th place in the Women’s Super League.

“I’m extremely excited to join Everton. It is one of the historic clubs in women’s football and our backgrounds fit nicely, with common values, work ethic and ambitions. Having studied the squad in depth during this process, I feel there is massive potential, with players capable of making an impact on the biggest stages,” said Sørensen for the club’s website.
