Bristol City beats Leicester City in tight semi-final
Last placed Super League team and leading Championship team were well-matched in the first part of the game. Bristol’s Charlie Wellings tried with half-volley but the goalkeeper, Kirstie Levell managed to divert the shot onto the crossbar, which was the only noticeable chance of the first half.
Paige Bailey-Gayle and Lachante Paul both had efforts saved by Sophie Baggaley. The Robins managed to get into the lead 72nd minute when Kiera Skeels, 19-year-old who just joined Bristol few days ago, headed the ball in after a cross. Bristol City reaches the Conti Cup final for the first time in its history.
Bristol City – Leicester City 1-0 (0-0)
Scorers: 72′ Kiera Skeels (B)
Yellow cards: 35′ Sophie Barker (L), 65′ Libby Smith (L)
