Clare Wheeler joins Everton

Clare Wheeler joins Everton FC on loan from a Danish side, Fortuna Hjørring, for the next season.

The 24-year-old played for Newcastle Jets and Sydney FC before swapping Australian for Denmark last year. The Australian international midfielder, who played 11 matches for Matildas, was one of the regulars for Fortuna in the last season. In total, Wheeler played 21 matches in Denmark, where she collaborated with current Toffees’ coach, Brian Sorensen.

“I’m ecstatic to join Everton. It’s an amazing move to an amazing club and I’m so happy. The opportunity came up to join on loan and work with Brian again and I didn’t think twice. It’s an amazing league here in England and it’s the best thing for me moving forward. I want to keep building on the success I had with Brian and hopefully I can do that at Everton,” said Wheeler.

The Toffees already signed Katrine Veje, Katja Snoeijs, Sara and Karen Holmgaard recently.
