Deyna Castellanos moves to Manchester City after not renewing her contract with Atletico Madrid. She signed a three-year contract.
The 23-year-old left her native Venezuela to play college football in the US. After scoring 48 goals in 892 matches, the talented forward was nominated for the World Football player of the year by FIFA in 2017. In 2020, she joined Atlético Madrid, for whom she made 59 appearances. After not extending her stay in Madrid, the Venezuelan international opted for a new adventure in the Women’s Super League.
“I’m very happy to be a Manchester City player – it is a huge move for myself in my career and I can’t wait for it to begin. I have chosen the No.10 shirt too as I played with that number in college and scored some great goals wearing it, so hopefully I will be able to create many more good memories with it here at City,” said Castellanos for mancity.com.
