Irish duo join Birmingham City

Irish duo join Birmingham City. Marie Hourihan joins Birmingham City from SC Braga, while Jamie Finn comes from Shelbourne FC. Both signed a one-year contract with the Blues.

The 33-year-old goalkeeper is a familiar place in Birmingham, where she played already between 2010 and 2013. During her first spell, she also won the FA Cup. After leaving Birmingham, Hourihan played for Chelsea, Manchester City, Brighton & Hove Albion and Braga. She played in Portugal since 2019. The experienced Irish international will start a new season of the Women’s Super League next weekend.

“It is great to be back at a club where I had so much success in the past and one that holds so many happy memories for me. Once I knew of the interest from here, it was an easy decision. I cannot wait to see the fans again and it will be extra special representing Birmingham at St. Andrew’s,” said Hourihan.

The 23-year-old Jamie Finn arrives from the Irish side, Shelbourne FC, where she spent most of her career and also played in the Women’s Champions League. In the 2019, the Irish defensive midfielder was named into the Team of the season of the Irish league. Good performances got her a call-up to the Irish national team, for whom she made five appearances so far.
