Jean-Luc Vasseur takes over Everton, following Willie Kirk’s dismissal in the last week. He signed a contract until June 2024.
The 52-year-old French coach was free after Olympique Lyon sacked him in April. Vasseur started his coaching career in PSG’s youth academy, and then coached men’s sections of Créteil, Reims, Paris FC and Châteauroux. In 2019, he took over Olympique Lyon women. In 2020, he led Lyon to triple crown, winning D1 Arkema, French Cup and Women’s Champions League. Toffees had a poor start into the Women’s Super League season with just 6 points from the first five games.

“It’s an honour to be here at Everton, which is such a famous club in England, I spoke with Sarvar Ismailov and he told me this is a big club with a big history and an amazing future. I’ve come here to write new history with Everton and to win titles. We have a lot of talent and resources, so I think there is good capacity to improve,”said Vasseur.
