Kirsty Smith and Izzy Atkinson move to West Ham United. Smith joins from Manchester United on a two-year deal with an option for an additional season.
The 28-year-old Kirsty Smith played in her native Scotland for Hibernian for a major part of her career. In 2018, the Scottish full-back joined Manchester United, at the time still in the Women’s Championship. In the last season, Smith played only 6 matches for the Red Devils, thus looking for a move and more playing time.
“I’m really pleased to join West Ham United. I’ve had a really nice welcome from all of the players and staff, and I’m excited for what’s to come at this club. This is a fresh start for me and I’m really looking forward to working within a new environment and being part of this team,” Smith added for the club’s website.
Izzy Atkinson is a 20-year-old who joins the Hammers from Celtic, where she played since the last year. The talented Irish winger, who already debuted for the national team, previously also played for Shelbourne FC in her native Ireland.
“It’s a dream come true to finally sign for a club that is as established in the Barclays Women’s Super League as West Ham are,” said Atkinson.
Joining Lisa Evans, Smith and Atkinson are second and third summer signing for the Hammers.
