Laia Aleixandri joins Manchester City from Atlético Madrid on a free transfer. She signed a three-year contract.
The 21-year-old, who has been part of Barcelona’s La Masia academy, moved to Madrid in 2017, seeking more playing time. With Rojablancas, the Spanish defender won two Liga Iberdrola titles. Aleixandri also has 9 caps for the Spanish national team. In Manchester City, she joins her former teammate, Deyna Castellanos, who moved to England just days ago.
“I am very happy to be here and to be a part of this amazing Club – I am very excited for what is to come. Manchester City is a very big club with top players and staff, and I believe this is the best move for me to make,” said Aleixandri.
