Laia Codina transfers to Arsenal

Laia Codina transfers to Arsenal from FC Barcelona. The club did not disclose the duration of the contract.

The 23-year-old progressed through La Masia before debuting for the first Barcelona team in 2019. The Spanish defender, who became the World Champion a few weeks ago with La Roja, played a total of 32 matches for Blaugrana. In the 2021/22 season, Codina played in Italy for AC Milan as a loaned player. She will hope for more regular playing times in London with the Gunners.

“I’m really excited – I can’t wait to start with the team and to be a Gunner. I knew all about the history of this club so when I found out Arsenal were interested, I didn’t think twice. We want to compete in all four competitions this season and I’m looking forward to making some memories with our supporters here,” said Codina for arsenal.com. The Gunners also signed Alessia Russo, Amanda Ilestedt and Cloe Lacasse recently.
