Lucy Staniforth joins Aston Villa on a free transfer after a contract termination with Manchester United. She penned a new until the end of the next season.
The 30-year-old renewed her contract with the Red Devils in the summer but after playing just 7 games in the current season, decided to find a new club. The English midfielder played for Sunderland, Lincoln, Bristol City, Liverpool and Birmingham City before signing for United in 2020. Staniforth also made 17 appearances for the Lionesses.
“I am so excited to join Aston Villa and can’t wait to get started,” said Staniforth in her first message to the Villa fans. Jordan Nobbs also joined the club a few days ago.
