Marcus Bignot takes over Aston Villa Women

Aston Villa Women annouced the appointment of Marcus Bignot as Interim Manager with immediate effect.

The 46-year-old is currently a coach in the FA youth national teams and joint manager Guiseley. Bignot will still remain in those roles and act as interim coach for Aston Villa until the end of the season.

Bignot was one of the pioneering coaches in women’s football. He was in charge of his hometown club, Birmingham city, for 7 years.

The current Aston Villa Women’s coaching team, led by Gemma Davies, remain in their existing positions.

“I am delighted to be able to help at such a progressive club in women’s football. It is also a great opportunity to mentor a talented young coaching group led by Gemma,” Bignot said.
