Maria Thorisdottir and Li Mengwen completesBrighton move, joining the club from Manchester United and Jiangsu, respectively.
The 30-year-old Thorisdottir, who followed an interesting career path, retired in 2012, when she played for Klepp, to play handball in the first Norwegian division. She returned to Klepp in 2014 before suffering a knee injury, which sidelined her again. Norwegian defender returned once again and signed for Chelsea in 2017. After four years in London, Thorisdottir joined United in 2021. In the last season, she made 9 appearance for the Red Devils.
“It feels great. I have been looking to come down here and meed the team and I am really looking forward to get to know them properly,” said Thorisdottir, who joins Mackenzie Hawkesby, Vicky Losada and Pauline Bremer as the latest newcomer.
Li Mengwen arrives on a free transfer, following her contract expiration with the Chinese club Jiangsu. The 28-year-old spent her whole career there with an exception of the last season, when she played on loan for Paris Saint-Germain. The Chinese international defender made 18 apperances in the French capital.
