Matt Beard stays on Liverpool bench

Matt Beard stays on Liverpool bench after renewing his contract with the club. The Reds did not disclose the new duration.

The 45-year-old already managed Liverpool between 2012 and 2015, when he left to take over Boston Breakers in the United States. He returned to England three years later, signing for West Ham United. The English coach led Bristol City on an interim basis before being appointed as Liverpool head coach in 2021. In his first season, Beard won the Women’s Championship and got promoted to the Women’s Super League, finishing seventh in the last season.

“I think we’re early stages of a big project and you’ve really got the future to look forward to. I’m excited for the future of the team because I think we’ve got a good group here, a good young group as well that can grow,” said Beard.
