Reading to undergo squad rebuilding after a bunch of players will leave the Royals at the end of the season.
As reported, Fara Williams has retired after the last game of the season. Angharad James will leave for a new challenge in the USA with North Carolina Courage. Lauren Burton has had a lot of problems with injuries. The striker missed the full 2019/20 season due to injury. Molly Bartrip will also have to find a new club after more than 100 appearances for the club. Kristine Leine declined the contract extension in order to move back home to Norway and be closer to her family after two years with the Royals. Goalkeeper Erin Nayler, who played just once for Reading, will also search for a new club with more play time.
Each one of them – regardless of if they have made a hundred appearances or were squad players that hadn’t had many minutes – were a huge part of the team and always gave everything, which is all I could ever ask of them. We are a unit and it is always sad to see players go, but I wish each and every one of them well in whatever their next steps are,” head coach Kelly Chambers said.
