Chelsea Women and Sophie Ingle agreed on a contract extension that will keep the player in London until June 2023.
The 29-year-old re-joined Chelsea in 2018 having previously played for the club in 2012 and 2013 and was a crucial part in recent Chelsea achievement, including the record Chelsea recently broke the WSL for the longest unbeaten run (33 games). The Welsh Captain has 100 appearances for Chelsea and has won Super League, Conti Cup and Women’s Community Shield with the Blues.
“When I was first here many years ago, we were semi-professional, I used to drive here two, three times a week to train here in the evenings and then come up on the weekend to play. We didn’t have the facilities we have now. Since Emma has come in she has been pushing year after year to progress this football club and this women’s team. She’s done that with the signings she’s made, and she’s been pushing for things off the pitch as well as on the pitch,” Ingle compared Chelsea before and now.
