Steph Houghton signs a new deal with Manchester City. The club did not disclose the duration of the extension.
The 33-year-old arrived to Manchester City from Arsenal eight years ago. Since then, she has become the player with the most appearances for Citizens. With 206 matches played, and 21 goals scored, the English centre-back won the Women’s Super League in 2016. Adding to that, Houghton was part of City’s team who won three FA Cups and three League cups. The captain of the English national team has more than 120 caps for England and helped the team reach semi-finals of Women’s World Cup two times.
“I’m delighted to sign an extension here at City. Once the talks started, there was only ever going to be one outcome and it was the easiest decision I’ve ever made, to commit my future to this football club and continue on this unbelievable journey,” said Houghton for mancity.com.
