Wieke Kaptein signs for Chelsea

Wieke Kaptein signs for Chelsea but will stay on loan with her current side FC Twente for the upcoming season.

The 18-year-old was the youngest Dutch player in the recently finished Women’s World Cup. She debuted on senior level at the age of 15 in Twente’s shirt. Despite her age, the talented midfielder already made 63 appearances for the Dutch side. She is considered one of the greatest talents in the women’s football. Kaptein signed a four-year contract with the Blues.

“It’s a really big club and I’m very honoured to be here. I’m looking forward to playing football for Chelsea. I can’t wait to meet the players and fans, but I am happy I can develop myself one more year in the Eredivisie,” added Kaptein. Chelsea also recently signed Mia Fishel, Brooke Aspin, Hannah Hampton, Ashley Lawrence, Alejandra Bernabe, and Catarina Macario.
