Yana Daniels and Jasmine Matthews pen new deals with Liverpool

Yana Daniels and Jasmine Matthews pen new deals with Liverpool and will stay with the Reds also in the next season.

The 31-year-old played Yana Daniels in her native Belgium before a one-year spell with Twente in 2014. After briefly returning and signing with Anderlecht, the experienced striked joined Bristol City in 2017. A year later, Daniels signed for Liverpool but returned to Bristol after just one season. In 2021, she rejoined the Reds and has since played 46 matches and helped the team reach Women’s Super League in the 2021/22 season.

“It feels really good, I always enjoy it here. Also with Matt, I know what he wants and I can really fit with how he wants to play. Liverpool is a second home now, I’m really settled and I’m happy here. Also where the club is going, it’s nice to be part of a future project, so I’m really looking forward to it,” Daniels said.

Jasmine Matthews, who is also Daniels’ life partner, followed the same career path. After starting her senior career with Bristol City, the two met when Daniels arrived to England. The 30-year-old defender later moved to Liverpool for the first spell before returning to Bristol for two more seasons. She also joined the Reds in 2021.
